About Coach

Meet Mitch, aka the Grill Sergeant — the who kicked Anchored off back in 2014 and has been part of the crew ever since. He’s a CrossFit Level 3 Trainer (CCFT), earned his Level 1 in 2012, and has completed about 20 specialty courses along the way. Mitch especially enjoys coaching Olympic weightlifting and powerlifting, and he’s spent years helping folks dial in their technique on the big lifts. He first got into CrossFit around 2006 while in the military, kept at it casually after returning from Afghanistan in 2008 (mostly self-taught back then), and really got serious in 2012 after doing his on-ramp with Coach Christine out in New Brunswick. That experience eventually led him to open Anchored. In December 2025, he retired as big dog and handed over day-to-day operations to Morgan and Christine and stepped into a more part-time role. He’s still around though — happy to jump in for fill-in classes when needed and excited to see the gym keep growing under the team he’s worked with for over a decade. Outside the gym, Mitch loves hunting, long-range precision shooting, and cooking up good food for friends and family. His go-to post-workout meal is a solid steak, potatoes, and Caesar salad, and if he’s treating himself, a brown shaken oat espresso from Starbucks does the trick. At home, he spends time with the love of his life Daniela, their family, and their pets: Dexter, Meatball, and Meredith. One movement he really likes? The overhead squat — he sees it as a great way to spot mobility issues in the ankles or hips. Whether you’re just starting out or working on your next PR, Mitch is around with practical coaching and a straightforward approach. Stop by and say hi — the Grill Sergeant’s still part of the Anchored family!
